Go Horns!

I took Jack to his first UT game on Saturday.  Between the football, the cheering crowd and the 60 foot score board, Jack was mezmerized...well at least for 10 or 15 minutes.  He spent the rest of the game eating nachos and running around with his buddy Steven.

My Pumpkin in the Pumpkin Patch

Jack and I hit the Tarrytown Pumpkin Patch yesterday to play and take a few pictures.  He had a blast climbing the pumpkins but was way to excited to let me play photographer.  Here are a few I managed to catch.

Birthday Cake....In Your Face

We celebrated Jack's birthday with family and friends on Saturday.  We were supposed to have his party last weekend but Hurricane Ike put a damper on our plans.  So the celebration was a bit belated but no less fantastic.  The weather on Saturday was beautiful and we played in the back yard with beach balls, water toys and a little red wagon.  Jack had a lot of fun with the birthday song and his chocolate cake.  He was a little hesitant until be got the frosting to his mouth, then he dove in face first...literally!

Jack's First Birthday

Just one year ago....

Wow, he has changed so much!  I just can't believe that my little guy is already one year old.  We had so much fun celebrating his birthday on Monday.  We did all of his favorite things.  Here is a run down of Jack's big day....

Blueberry pancakes for breakfast!
To Zilker Park for play time...
In the last month, Jack has discovered the wonder of the playground.  This, of course, coincided with his ability to walk.  The timing could not be more perfect in that it is finally starting to cool down. As you might guess, there are a million playgrounds in Austin.  So, Jack and I are on the hunt for the ultimate playground.  Right now, Zilker Park tops our list....

Jack is also very into steering wheels.  Trains, planes and automobiles....anything with a steering wheel is SO MUCH FUN!
And driving the car....
I would say we log at least 30 minutes a day sitting in the driveway...Jack in the front seat, mommy is the back seat.  Blinker on, Blinker off.  Wipers on, Wipers off.  Lock, unlock, lock, unlock. You get the picture.
Birthday cupcake and candle....
Apparently Jack did not inherit his mommy's sweet tooth because he was not so into his cupcake.  That could potentially be the result of the massive plate of Macaroni and Cheese he consumed just five minutes earlier.
And, bath time...
Splashing is always a crowd pleaser.

Good night baby Jack.  Happy 1st birthday! The last year has been completely magical.  You are the light of our lives and never cease to amaze us with your pure joy, wonder, and curiosity.  I cannot wait to explore the world through your eyes.  Just think what the next year holds!

Newport

We just got back from a wonderful two week vacation in Newport, RI.  We had so much fun visiting John parents, Monty (Gammy) and Dick (Grand daddy).  Newport was a whole new adventure for Jack.  From the house, to the yard, to the beach, the little guy never stopped.  And, Jack is walking!  He was just taking a few steps at a time when we left Austin and really perfected his skill while we were in Newport.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from our time there.

Jack had a blast playing in the front yard with the sprinkler.  The "squinty face" has now evolved to the squinty smile.  He always looks like he is about to get into a lot of trouble!

Monty and Dick thew a beautiful engagement party for John's sister, Helen, while we were in Newport.  Congratulation Helen and George!

Timon, John's god son, and Jack did some serious bonding over sand castles and sea shells. These two are best buds.

Jack on the playground
Jack absolutely adored the beach.  It was so fun to watch John and Jack play together.  When John started building sandcastles, he was like a little kid again (and I was not far behind).
Jack loved to climb in and out of the holes that John would dig in the sand.  This happened to be a pretty aggressive one.
Monty and Jack take a trip to the farmers market to pick up some goodies
The Clambake is a wonderful party at the beach club each year that symbolized the official end to summer in Newport.  It is a such a fun and festive event and the kids LOVE it.  They bury hundreds of lobsters under tarps in the sand, light a fire, and cook the lobster all afternoon.   At night, there is huge dinner and lots wine and dancing.  Jack got dressed up in his lobster best for the event.
The clambake officially begins when a little band marches down the beach and holds up one of the lobsters that is ready to eat....dinner is served!

Pretty Boy

I just wanted to share this picture of Jack.  I love it :)

Simple Pleasures

Like most moms, I am always looking for new activities for Jack.  I have discovered that the most simple games, activites, and objects are the ones that Jack loves the most.  While bathing Luca the other day, I realized that the hose could be pretty fun for the little guy.

This is Jack new face.  John and I started to whistle to him and he started to mimic.  So funny!

Back to Big D

Jack and I spent a long weekend in Dallas with my parents and my grandmother, Nanny Roe.  As usual, we had a wonderful time.  Jack loves spending time with TC, papa and Nana.

Introducing Truman!  This is my mom and dad's new golden puppy.  Is he cute or what?

My Little Mountain Man

John, Jack and I met my mom and dad in Durango, CO over the 4th of July weekend for a little family vacation.  Jack had so much fun spending time with TC and Papa and hiking in the mountains.

So beautiful!
John carried Jack in a backpack on some pretty aggressive hikes...way to go daddy!  On this particular afternoon, Jack was pooped and decided to take a nap on daddy's back.
