The Other Baby

I came across some great pictures of Luca the other day and had to share them.  He is such a sweet dog and will be Jack's best friend some day.

Easter in DC

We spent Easter in DC with John's parents this year and had such a wonderful weekend.  The weather was beautiful and it was really fun to introduce Jack to John's home town.  This was our first time to travel with Jack since he became somewhat mobile...it was a challenge to say the least. For months, people have been commenting that Jack is a very "social baby".  Well, it all became very clear on our flights to and from DC.  Jack was ONLY happy if he could stare at or talk to other passengers....and when I say talk, I mean emit a high pitch squeal or a long low grunt.  We occasional heard a "ba ba ba", but those are far and few between.  John and I think this is absolutely adorable and represents the fact that our baby is the smartest in the whole world.  But, it became very obvious to us that the other passengers on the plane did not agree.  Actually, everyone was very sweet and patient. At least until Jack would spit up on their seat, blanket or arm rest...then all of the fun was over and Jack would have to make friends with the next unknowing stranger.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Monty gave us a a really great quilt for Jack to play on...it John's when he was a baby.  Very cool.
We staged a little Easter egg hunt in the back yard for Jack

Movin' and Groovin'

For the last six months, Jack has always gone to bed on his back and woken up in exactly the same position.  But recently, he has learned to roll from his back to his tummy and he likes to practice this trick as soon has he wakes up in the morning.  So, he will usually wake up, talk to himself for 5 or 10 minutes, and then roll over on his tummy to play.  It is typically at this point that he decides that he wants mama's company....this is how I found the little guy this morning.

A HEAD of the Game

So Jack has been measuring in at about 97th percentile in terms of height and weight at his doctor's appointments.  But, his head circumference is only 65th percentile!  This is really incredible considering his head looks enormous to me....you be the judge :)  I love this picture of him!

What a Weekend!

It has been an absolutely beautiful weekend in Austin and we have been spending as much time as possible outside.  On Saturday, I put John on dad-duty while I went out to run some errands and I came home to the PERFECT dad moment.  John had decided to take Jack into the backyard to play in the grass. Instead of grabbing a few of the many baby toys we have lying around the house, John tears two pages out of a Sports Illustrated magazine and sets them in front of Jack for entertainment.  Now, Jack does like to play with paper, so I will give John a little credit :) Additionally,  John had dressed Jack in a footed onesie, and pair of  brown pajama leggings, his Easter loafers and a lobster hat.  It was hysterical.  And Jack could not have bee having more fun. Grass is a new discovery for Jack and he can't get enough of it.

Welcome home mama!
Look that this silly outfit that daddy put me it!
Hey, did you guys see this interesting article on next year's NFL draft?

Rub-A-Dub-Dub

We started bathing Jack in the real bathtub about a week ago and it is great! We let him splash around and swim in the water...he totally digs it.  Here is a picture of Jack having a bath at Nana and Papa's house.  Someday Jack is going to be so embarrased that I posted this picture....
On Friday, we put a couple little rubber duckies in the water for Jack to play with.  A few minutes after taking Jack out of the water and back to his nursery, we found Luca bobbing for rubber duckies in the bathtub!
