Newport

We just got back from a wonderful two week vacation in Newport, RI.  We had so much fun visiting John parents, Monty (Gammy) and Dick (Grand daddy).  Newport was a whole new adventure for Jack.  From the house, to the yard, to the beach, the little guy never stopped.  And, Jack is walking!  He was just taking a few steps at a time when we left Austin and really perfected his skill while we were in Newport.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from our time there.

Jack had a blast playing in the front yard with the sprinkler.  The "squinty face" has now evolved to the squinty smile.  He always looks like he is about to get into a lot of trouble!

Monty and Dick thew a beautiful engagement party for John's sister, Helen, while we were in Newport.  Congratulation Helen and George!

Timon, John's god son, and Jack did some serious bonding over sand castles and sea shells. These two are best buds.

Jack absolutely adored the beach.  It was so fun to watch John and Jack play together.  When John started building sandcastles, he was like a little kid again (and I was not far behind).
Jack loved to climb in and out of the holes that John would dig in the sand.  This happened to be a pretty aggressive one.

The Clambake is a wonderful party at the beach club each year that symbolized the official end to summer in Newport.  It is a such a fun and festive event and the kids LOVE it.  They bury hundreds of lobsters under tarps in the sand, light a fire, and cook the lobster all afternoon.   At night, there is huge dinner and lots wine and dancing.  Jack got dressed up in his lobster best for the event.
The clambake officially begins when a little band marches down the beach and holds up one of the lobsters that is ready to eat....dinner is served!
